KIA K5 Turbo (Optima SX) racing : Turbo upgraded(360hp) VS ECU tune

Anyone wonder about the Performance difference between KIA K5 (Optima SX) : ECU Tune VS Turbo upgrade? It's no wonder that Turbo upgrade version is faster than ECU tune version. But we wonder how much? Turbo upgrade car in the video has small turbine, so it's wheel power is just about 360hp and about 300hp with ECU tune car. How much those cars runs fast on the real roads? Let's have a look.

Recently KIA released new 2014 Optima (K5), the one of most attractive change is sports steering wheel which has smaller size and more functional shape. The picture below is the steering wheel of 2013- KIA optima.(Old type)

After this sports steering has been released, it got to catch on among many of K5 Korean owner's club members. If you have 2014 KIA Optima (K5) with normal type steering wheel, you can just replace this sports type without modification. But if you have ~2013, then ⓐ you need to modify the electric wiring system a bit ⓑ you need to buy air bag module which fits to the sports steering wheel However, even the old KIA Optima owners (~2013) should pay for not only Sports wheel but also air bag module, changing steering wheel is getting very popular among old model (2013 K5-optima) owners.

Hi it's still very cold here in Korea. My previous post : "Magic of ECU tune" was very popular among KIA & Hyundai fans. Here today, I am going to show you turbine-up KIA Optima turbo, it has 420 HP and 50kg.m at the front wheel.
Amazingly, this car is faster than stock BMW E92 M3 and Benz C63 AMG at the rolling test ( 60km/h ~ 260km/h acceleration test). No wonder that modified car is faster than stock luxury sports sedan, and some people may say comparison tuned car to stock car is meaningless.
But I still think these KIA optima and Hyundai Sonata (they have same engine) has something very meaningful. The cost you have to pay for additional 200 hp power( totally 420 horse power) is just about 4500~ 5000 USD ( depend on the options), if you have KIA optima turbo and live in Korea.
Tuner says, "5000usd is not that expensive price if you consider the power increase. Think about the tuning cost of BMW turbo car ( BMW Z4 35i, BMW 335i) You should pay more than 10000 usd to get additional 100 horse power. Optima and Sonata has very nice layout under the hood and it has enough rooms for additional parts. So that we can reduce the total cost for turbine upgrade." I agreed what he said.

After long term test for 3-4 months, we have found that Hundai 6 speed auto mission ( made by Hyundai powertech) has nice durability enough to endure 50 torque. There has been no mission slip or jerking.
