Performance : Hyundai Elantra Rateral load ( how to prevent fish tail)

Elantra fishtail phenomenon

When Hyundai released 2011 Elantra in Korea, the issue that Fishtail phenomenon occurs with Elantra was raised from Korean Elantra clubs. Fishtail is the phenomenon that the rear body of a car keep swaying like a fish when braking. This comes from the lack of rear grip ( caused by poor weight balance or poor suspension design).

How to reinforce the rear grip of Elantra?

1.Elantra has torsion beam type suspension in rear. In this case, riding comfortability is defined by the solidity of bushings which adapted in suspension part. Elantra has too much soft bushing so that weight balance of car could be collapsed easily when hard braking.

 2. Rateral load for rear suspension. Let's have a look at this short movie clip. The car in the movie, has no fish tailing even in the drastic lane change test due to the influence of the rateral load in the rear suspension.

  1) making hole for Z link bracket

  2) Clean up the surface

  3) Bracket installation

  4) Done!

5.Review
Elantra has too much soft bushing so that weight balance of car could be collapsed easily when hard braking. What if I replace these soft bushings to hard bushings? It may ruin the riding comfortability. I want to keep the riding comfortability and want to reduce the potential danger of fish tail.

The rateral load is the right solution. After installing this product, Stability at high speed is pretty much improved and it is still COMFORTABLE!

2011+ hyundai elantra mood map light DIY

I am "day walker" a member of PartsKor. Today, I am going to show you how to install a Mood map light module in your 2011+ Elantra. (Some of Elantra, they don't have interior map light.)

1.This 2011 Elantra Mood map light (Stock) - you can buy this from Hyundai Mobis
  It will cost just about 34$.

2.Map lamp will be installed in the empty space.

3.Cut the line as below

4.After cutting interior cover, you will find 4 holes. 4 pcs of clip should be put into the holes so that you can screw up the map lamp assembly later.

5. Now almost done! After screwing up, you need to connect electric line between the map light assembly and some where in your car.

   2012 - : You can find the elec. lines from the dome light.
   2012+  : You can find the elec lines from A pillar.
